DESCRIPTION:Instructor: Tom Kiroplis\, MSc.Ed.\, Dip.Ac.\, Dip.TCM\,\nTom Kiroplis\, MSc.Ed.\, Dip.Ac.\, Dip.TCM\, has been practicing Traditional Chinese Medicine since 1997 and has taught at the Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Toronto since 1998. He is also vice president of the Ontario Association of Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine. Tom has had intense additional training at the University of Nanjing in China\, and has been teaching physical therapists Acupuncture within the physiotherapy clinic setting since 2001. As co-owner of two physical therapy clinics\, he has worked closely with physical therapists since 1998\, adding a wealth of Acupuncture knowledge to physical therapy practices. \nThe associates and acting facilitators include: Len Kiroplis\, PT\, Elena Mustata\, PT and Irene Cemas\, PT \n\nCOURSE OBJECTIVES\nCurrently the fields of Acupuncture\, Traditional Chinese Medicine and Dry Needling are steadily growing and there is a great deal of research being done on many conditions relating to pelvic health.\nThere are many conditions that can cause pelvic pain and mechanisms include inflammation\, obstruction\, blood vessel disturbances\, and pain that may have origin in the abdomen.  Pelvic pain in women can also be due to disorders that cause referred pain in the pelvis.  Many pelvic pain disorders can be attributed to gastrointestinal\, musculoskeletal\, and urinary tract disorders thus making pelvic pain difficult to diagnose.\nThis course aims to educate physiotherapists with previous acupuncture experience\, on how to treat pelvic disorders using acupuncture and dry needling.\n\nAcquire knowledge and practical experience of treating Dysmenorrhea with acupuncture and dry needling.\nAcquire knowledge and practical experience of treating Endometriosis with acupuncture and dry needling.\nAcquire knowledge and practical experience of treating Painful Bladder Syndrome with acupuncture and dry needling.\nAcquire knowledge and practical experience of treating Dyspareunia with acupuncture and dry needling.\nLearn TCM theory and Western medical theory as it relates to acupuncture and dry needling for the conditions mentioned above\nLearn dry needling for the following muscles: obturator internus\, adductor magnus\, poas\, and others.\n\nCRITERIA FOR ACCEPTANCE\n\nPhysical Therapists who are licensed to practice in Canada\nAPTEI “ADN: Introduction” or any past acupuncture education is a pre-requisite for all  APTEI ADN Advanced Courses including this ADN: Pelvic Health program\n\n\nGENERAL COURSE INFORMATION\nThe program is designed for PTs with little or those with extensive previous acupuncture experience. Each APTEI Acupuncture & Dry Needling (ADN) course is designed to be one-day in length (9am-5pm). For PTs with no ADN experience\, the introductory course is required prior to continuing with the Advanced courses. \nUpon the successful completion of the four (4) APTEI ADN Advanced courses\, registrants will be required to complete an examination and will receive a “Advanced Physical Therapy Acupuncture & Dry Needling Certification”. \nPTs completing the APTEI ADN program will not be able to identify themselves as an “acupuncturist” or be able to bill under acupuncture extended benefits separately.
