2011 Systematic Review on Yoga & Pain

Reference:Posadzki P et al Is yoga effective for pain? A systematic review of randomized clinical trials. Complement Ther Med. 2011 Oct;19(5):281-7.

Before we begin, I want to say that I am a fan of Yoga, I endorse it and personally practice some moves every single morning. I have also had to tell a number of my patients to either stop Yoga or to significantly modify their poses.

This systematic review looked at the effectiveness of yoga on pain. Of the 10 RCTs included, 9 supported the efficacy of yoga on reducing pain.

This systematic review concluded, “…yoga has the potential for alleviating pain. However, definitive judgments are not possible.”
