Impingement? Try Mobilization with Movement Posterior GH Glide!

1) Ask the patient to abduct the arm in the scapular plane

2)Apply a manual posterior glide on the humeral head and maintain the posterior glide the WHOLE time

3) Facilitate scapular upward rotation during the abduction

4) If symptoms decrease and the painful arc resolves, repeat the abduction up to ten times

5) Re-asses abduction ROM and pain level

Note: This technique is effective for those with impingement syndrome related to an anteriorly translated humeral head syndrome.

Note #2: PAIN is contra-indicated during the technique
