Physio Intervention for Chronic Neck Pain?it works!

This is a good quality study from Finland, published in the most reputable spinal journal that supports Physiotherapy intervention for chronic neck pain is effective.
76 Patients with non-specific neck pain lasting longer than three months were randomly allocated to three groups.
Group #1: PT intervention, which included:
i) Cervical stabilization exercises
ii) Relaxation treatment
iii) Eye fixation exercises
iv) Postural control retraining and
v) Behavioural support
Treatment was provided for 2X/week (45 min each session) for 12 weeks.
Group #2: Home exercises only
Group #3: Advice only
Result:At 3 and 12 months follow-up, the Physiotherapy intervention group reported SIGNIFICANTLY greater benefit than the other two groups.
Study Conclusion: Physiotherapy treatment was more effective than home exercises or advice alone in improving self-perceived benefit in patients with chronic neck pain.
