Highly Effective 1st MTP Joint Extension Mob
Reference:null
Have the patient stand in front of a wall and place their hands on the wall for support.
With the effected foot behind them simulate the push off phase of gait.
The Therapist then maintains a lateral glide at the proximal phlanx and stabilizes the metatarsal by pushing it medially.
While the lateral glide is maintained ask the patient to go up on their toes…repeat 10X
Note: The “lateral” direction is relative to the centre of the FOOT not relative to the centre of the body.
