Frozen Shoulder: Cochrane Database on Arthrographic Distension Injections
Adhesive capsulitis/frozen shoulder is characterised by post-traumatic or atraumic onset of shoulder pain accompanied by progressive loss of mobility.
It is often described as being a “self-limiting condition”, except for the fact that it can persist for 1-3 years…which is an awful long time to just wait around and hope for recovery.
This systematic review looked at a number of RCTs in order to determine the effectiveness and safety of arthrographic distension of the glenohumeral joint in patients with adhesive capsulitis.
In a Nutshell: What about safety? They reported only a few minor adverse effects, which was pain during and after the procedure.
